In Japanese culture, Ikigai loosely translates to purpose, or a person’s “reason for being.” Within the three narratives, this idea is explored from three different perspectives.
SEISAI – In ‘50s-‘60s Japan, feared assassin Nakoshi Ito encounters an unexpected sight during a job – a small child. Deciding against his better judgment, he takes the child with him, and neither he nor the young soul can fathom the implications of that moment.
MOMENTS – Promising physicist Thelonious “Thelo” Peter Jemison loses his wife and child in a horrific accident. Using any and all tools and resources available to him, he desperately tries to find a way back to them, bending the laws of nature along the way.
ECHOES – Tragedy strikes on a global scale, leaving Gilbert Davis and his brother John orphans at a very young age. After John’s disappearance, Gilbert vows to find his brother and lend a helping hand to all under the thumb of oppression. Recruited by a mysterious organization, he quickly learns his world is much larger than he could ever imagine – and it's not the only one.
